Responsibilities
- Fabricate precision mechanical components and test fixtures using CNC machines, lathes, milling equipment, band saws, and hand tools (grinders, saws, welders)
- Interpret CAD models and engineering drawings to produce parts, test fixturing and mechanical assemblies
- Support prototype assembly for drive inverter systems and power electronics subassemblies
- Maintain and calibrate lab equipment (CNC, CMMs, ) to ensure operational readiness
- Manage material inventory and procurement for fabrication projects
- Enforce 5S standards and safety protocols in the lab, ensuring compliance with Tesla's EH&S policies
Requirements
- 3 years of hands-on experience in mechanical fabrication, CNC machining, or prototype development in automotive, aerospace, or energy sectors
- Experience operating CNC machinery (Datron, Haas, Fanuc) with CAM software (Mastercam, Fusion 360) and manual machine tools (Bridgeport mills, engine lathes)
- Proficiency fabrication processes for sheet metal fabrication, 80/20 extrusion, and soldering techniques for electrical/mechanical assemblies
- Ability to read and execute complex engineering drawings, electrical schematics, and CAD models (SolidWorks, CATIA) with GD&T interpretation
- Physical capacity to lift 50 lbs., stand for multiple hours daily, and perform repetitive tasks requiring manual dexterity and visual acuity
