What are the responsibilities and job description for the Facilities Electrical Engineer position at Tesla?

The Gigafactory Nevada Facilities team has an immediate opportunity for an Electrical Engineer to play an integral role in the growth and maintenance of our facility. The Facilities team has an immediate opportunity for a Senior Electrical Engineer to play an integral role in the growth and maintenance of our facility. Candidates should possess direct construction experience building high-tech infrastructure and operational facilities (from industries such as semiconductor, solar, battery, etc.). This is a field-based position to support 24 / 7 manufacturing facilities located Sparks, Nevada.

Responsibilities

Perform energy audits, provide energy usage calculations, circuit analysis for critical load throughout the plant and circuit protection for voltage sag on critical loads
Validation, optimization and efficiency analysis for cost savings and reduction of energy throughout the plant
Operate equipment and program / adjust medium voltage relays and breaker settings
Prepare engineering specifications for bid invitation, performed bid evaluation and conformed bid evaluations for purchase related to ongoing maintenance (preventive) and improvements activities
Assist Operations and Maintenance in planning outages by supporting the coordination of downtime activities and needs between stakeholders (Construction, Facility, and Manufacturing team)
Establishes standards and specifications for installation, modification, quality control, testing, operation, inspection, and maintenance of Emergency Power Supply System (EPSS) and high voltage electrical systems according to commissioning standards, NFPA requirements, EPSS engineering principles and safety regulations
Provide technical and configuration support for the implementation and maintenance of energy systems utilizing tracking techniques and trending software and leading root cause analysis on process or asset failures
Work across sites to determine commonality and implement best practice to improve in electrical asset effectiveness, availability, and maintainability

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or the equivalent in experience and evidence of exceptional ability

3-5 years of direct construction experience building high-tech infrastructure and operational facilities (semiconductor, solar, battery, etc.)

Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work in an extremely fast-paced environment

Medium Voltage equipment including - operating / maintaining the equipment, trouble shooting and programming / adjusting medium voltage relays

Well versed and significant experience in electric utility system safe work practices in accordance with the OSHA, HAZMAT safety protocols and other applicable codes and standards (IEEE C37, C57, etc.); National Electrical Code, NFPA 70E, and IEEE 1584
