What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mechanical Designer, Lithium Refinery position at Tesla?
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Mechanical Designer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have 4-12 years of experience in mechanical design, utilizing tools such as Inventor, AutoCAD Mechanical, and Plant 3D. This role involves developing both 2D and 3D designs for industrial and commercial projects while ensuring accuracy and compliance with project standards.
What You'll Do
- Develop and modify 2D and 3D CAD designs for mechanical systems and components
- Modeling would include, but not limited to, dynamic models, parametric modeling, GD&T design & analysis, weldment, part, assembly, static equipment, and rotating equipment
- Create detailed drawings and layouts using Inventor, AutoCAD Mechanical, and Plant 3D
- Collaborate with engineers and project teams to ensure designs meet technical specifications and project requirements
- Maintain and update design documentation, including bills of materials, assembly drawings, and part specifications
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and company quality protocols in all design tasks
- These standards include, but not limited to, ASME Y14 series (14.5 & 14.100 is most applicable), AWS D1.1, AWS D2.4, familiarity of European design standards like ISO 9001, ISO 4063, & similar, and “Skeleton Model” design approach (including multi-skeleton design)
What You'll Bring
- Associate Degree in Mechanical Design or equivalent experience
- 4-12 years of experience in mechanical design, drafting, and modeling
- Proficiency in Inventor, AutoCAD Mechanical, and Plant 3D
- Strong knowledge of 2D CAD design principles and practices
- Experience with mechanical systems design for industrial or commercial projects
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Knowledge of equipment and HVAC (ducting) is required
