What To Expect
Tesla Energy is looking for an exceptional Engineering Leader for its Megapack Body in White (BIW) operations. This role requires a strong technical contributor who can both execute and lead – balancing hands-on engineering work with building a high performing team. Role responsibilities include end-to-end ownership of overall equipment efficiency (OEE), development of mechanisms to foster continuous improvement, and performance management of teams.
The ideal candidate thrives on solving complex challenges, optimizing manufacturing processes, and mentoring others, all while delivering innovative solutions that enable growth.
This role will be based out of the Greater Houston Area (TX) and will require 90% travel to the Bay Area (CA) to support early builds and validation support through Q2 2026. Travel plans and reimbursement will follow Tesla’s Travel Policy and will be governed by the direct manager.

Develop and motivate a high performing team of exceptional engineers, technicians, and leaders in Tesla’s mission to transition the world towards sustainable energy Lead engineers and technicians which include, but not limited to equipment, controls, process, and maintenance functions Provide support for new equipment installation, startup, and transition to sustaining with continuous improvement Build & improve mechanisms to ensure all equipment & processes operate safely, with high availability & accuracy Develop tactical and strategic direction for direct & skip-level org that delivers business needs and fosters a strong team culture Support 24x7 operations
What You'll Bring
Degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent experience Experience in welding (MIG & RSW) and mechanical joining equipment and processes Demonstrated experience with automation, robotics, mechanical & controls systems Experience in automotive industry is highly preferred Ability to manage and execute multiple large-scale projects simultaneously, dynamically adjusting priorities to meet changing business needs Hands on experience with lean manufacturing principles Proven track record to build and lead a strong team in a 24x7 manufacturing environment
