What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Control Supervisor, Cathode position at Tesla?
We are looking for a highly energetic and motivated Quality Control Supervisor to lead a team of Lab Technicians at Tesla’s newly built Cathode production facility in Gigafactory Texas, Austin. In this role, you will oversee laboratory operations including organization of daily work, equipment calibration and troubleshooting, analytical testing prioritization and data reporting. You will exercise your exceptional people skills to assign tasks, schedule training and monitor work progress. Your proven record of driving improvements in a fast-paced manufacturing environment will enable you to set the tone for the rest of the team. In addition, your strong interpersonal skills will allow you to do collaboration with cross functional teams to efficiently solve complex analytical challenges. Your presence will bring more structure to the team and bring the best performance out of each of your lab members.
What You'll Do
- Assign responsibilities to manage testing
- Provide coaching and training to technicians on lab safety and operations
- Escalate quality issues to management and quality engineering team
- Lead 5S and efficiency improvement initiatives in the lab
- Communicate with Quality engineers and Tesla Prototyping lab for test methods development and handover
- Provide regular reports & updates to quality team and management
- Coordinate with production, site maintenance, equipment, and chemical vendors for smooth lab operations
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or in a relevant scientific field or equivalent experience
- 4 - 5 years’ experience in a Manufacturing Quality Control environment with ability to wear PPE including PAPR
- 3 years of leadership experience with a team of 10 or more employees.
- Knowledgeable in quality related specifications and MS office
- Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 17025 or IATF 16949 a plus
- Preferred to have knowledge on LIMS, six-sigma, RCA, TQM, or equivalent
