What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sr. Electrical Engineer, Abuse Test & Engineering, Semi position at Tesla?
As a member of the Abuse Functional Safety group, you will be at the forefront of ensuring the safety of Tesla's products across Vehicles, Energy Products, and Robotics. Our team is responsible for simulating extreme real-world scenarios to inform the design of our products, with the goal of leading the industry in handling these conditions.
We're seeking an experienced Engineer to join our team, where you'll investigate complex technical issues, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and inform design decisions to ensure the safety and robustness of Tesla's products.
Responsibilities
- Study the properties of electrical failures in battery packs and conduct root cause analysis, including scenarios such as short circuit events, and saltwater in high voltage systems
- Develop and validate mitigations to identified issues and coordinate interdisciplinary product improvement implementations
- Create experiments to push electrical systems to their limits
- Develop internal standards and processes to continue to improve the safety of our products
- Collaborate in the design and manufacturing of future products

84,000 - $204,000 / annual salary cash and stock awards benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
