Inventory and Material Control Specialist
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: Dependent on merit and productivity: $18.00 – $22.00 per hour
Schedule: Monday through Friday, with overtime available. General start and finish time is 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM, but this can be discussed.
Tesseract Fab is seeking a detail-oriented, organized, and proactive Inventory and Material Control Specialist to support our innovative manufacturing operations. This position plays a critical role in managing inventory accuracy, traceability, and proper storage, ensuring that materials and products are efficiently handled to meet production demands. The Specialist will be responsible for maintaining accurate inventory counts, ensuring product allocation and traceability (both physical and electronic), and properly storing materials. Additionally, this role will involve shipment coordination, including working with carriers, arranging deliveries and pickups, and maintaining accurate shipping and receiving records.
This position requires a strong sense of urgency, multitasking abilities, and a willingness to work in a collaborative team atmosphere. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, demonstrate assertiveness, and possess basic computer and math skills. Experience in shipping, receiving, or inventory control is highly preferred, along with the ability to operate forklifts and material-handling equipment. A good driving record is also essential for coordinating deliveries and pickups.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and manage inventory, ensuring accuracy, proper storage, and traceability.
- Issue and receive materials and tools, verifying conditions and proper documentation.
- Track inventory levels and usage, updating records in inventory management systems.
- Conduct regular audits to identify shortages, misplaced items, or discrepancies.
- Coordinate shipments, including arranging deliveries, pickups, and working with carriers.
- Ensure accurate documentation of inventory movements, shipments, and receiving logs.
- Assist in implementing inventory control processes to improve efficiency and minimize waste.
- Work closely with production teams to anticipate material and tool needs.
- Identify and resolve inventory discrepancies with urgency and attention to detail.
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures and proper handling of materials.
Knowledge and Qualifications Required:
- Ability to use computers and automated inventory tools.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Proficiency in basic mathematical operations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all units of measure.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to solve problems involving multiple variables in standardized situations.
- Ability to lift and carry items weighing 50 lbs. or more.
- Experience in shipping, receiving, or inventory control preferred.
- Forklift operation experience preferred but not required.
Work Environment:
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Work performed indoors with temperature/humidity variations depending on the season.
- Extended periods of standing and occasional bending/stooping required.
- Exposure to industrial environments and potential contact with hazardous materials—PPE provided by the company.
