Job Summary
TestPros is seeking an remote Accessibility Remediation Engineer SME. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of digital accessibility remediation experience and expertise with Ruby on Rails. In addition, the ideal candidate will also have expert knowledge in WCAG and Section 508 Compliance standards. This position is on a short-term contract that may lead to other opportunities.
Position: 1099 Consultant/Short-Term
Citizenship: U.S. citizenship
Location: Sterling, VA and/or Remote
Clearance: None required
Responsibilities
- Apply software fixes and/or additional accessibility features within the target software source code (Ruby on Rails).
- Perform complete audits and validation testing on software and documents, based upon Section 508 and/or W3C WCAG 2.1 accessibility guidelines.
- Use Assistive Technologies, such as screen reader software (NVDA, JAWS), and Accessibility test tools.
- Write detailed findings to document identified issues and recommend potential solutions and best practices for remediation of accessibility violations.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- US Citizen or green card holder
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Experience working effectively with several clients or project teams simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- 3 years of experience with digital accessibility remediation.
- 5 years of industry experience in web/ desktop Fluency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, WAI-ARIA, and related web technology.
- 3 years of experience with Ruby on Rails.
- Expert knowledge in addressing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and compliance standards.
- Experience using Assistive Technologies, such as screen reader software (JAWS, NVDA, WindowEyes, Adobe), and Accessibility test tools.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
- Possession of relevant certifications such as:
- DHS Trusted Tester
- IAAP Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies "CPACC"
- IAAP Web Accessibility Specialist (WAS) Credential
