What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paramedic position at Teton Valley Hospital?
The Paramedic functions as an integral part of the nursing team, and performs patient care within the paramedic scope of practice as defined by the State of Idaho. The paramedic works in the Emergency Department on scheduled shifts. This position allows for flexibility in scheduling the needs of a 24/7 facility. The paramedic prioritizes patients who present for treatment, escorts patients to the treatment area, and establishes initial vitals and medical history and records patient data as required. Performs invasive and non-invasive procedures up to Paramedic scope of practice including procurement of blood and body fluids for lab testing and all other ED duties as assigned. All employees perform their work duties in a manner which promotes and supports the Standards of Conduct of Teton Valley Health; and demonstrate support of the organization’s mission, values, and vision in all actions and interactions with employees, patients, medical staff, guests and visitors.
Paramedic Responsibilities & Duties
- Performs patient care under paramedic scope of practice and medical orders.• Maintains proficiency with appropriate level skills and medications current within scope of practice.• Maintains and sustains professional ethics and promotes patient’s bill of rights.• Assists with data gathering by direct observation and interaction with the patient/family/significant other to identify physical, psychosocial and emotional needs.• Completes initial intake and triage for Emergency Department Patients.• Serves as an informational resource by answering questions and requests.• Maintains patient confidentiality and protects hospital operations by keeping information confidential.• Maintains unit operations by following policy and procedures and reporting necessary changes in protocol.• Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations; adhering to infection control policies and protocols.• Maintains continuity amongst work teams by communicating and documenting actions, irregularities and continuing needs.• Documents provided patient care and patient conditions• Assists with any other duties as assigned within scope of practice.
