What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sustainability Manager, U.S. & Canada position at Tetra Pak?
In this position, you will lead the implementation of sustainability programs in the US & Canada Market. Areas of focus will be: developing collection and recycling programs for post-consumer carton packages, interacting with internal and external stakeholders on sustainability related topics, helping Tetra Pak strengthen its credentials as a thought leader in the area of sustainability and low carbon circular economy. You will support the Director of Sustainability’s engagement with the Managing Director and Market Company management team in addressing sustainability as a license to operate. The position is based at our Denton, Texas, Tetra Pak office.Up to 50% of your time will be required to travel to client sites, trade shows and industry association meetingsTetra Pak is not sponsoring work visas or relocation for this position.
What you will do
As a Market Sustainability Manager, you will:
- Develop collection and recycling programs for post-consumer carton packages via trade organizations such as the Carton Council of North America or in partnership with Tetra Pak customers.
- Initiate and own any recycling and/or collection investment projects. Define need and business case. Monitor project development, installation, commissioning, and performance and report results.
- Secure that sustainability is embedded as a key initiative with our customers by supporting the Marketing and front-office teams. Assist in the development and deployment of any toolkits and training, also providing feedback on customer needs and insights from engagements with customers and other critical stakeholders in the assigned Market.
- Secure compliance with local collection/recycling regulation/targets as applicable. Support Public Affairs by providing technical knowledge and ensuring that market related recycling realities are applied to any advocacy around proposed legislation.
- Secure reliable accounting and reporting of collection/recycling rates.
- Engage in thought leadership forums, trade shows, webinars, and other activities to confidently promote Tetra Pak’s holistic sustainability story.
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Minimum 4-5 years’ experience in a sustainability field, experience interacting with municipalities and the solid waste industry would be a plus.
- Experience working with and interpreting LCAs (Life Cycle Analysis)
- Proficient with MSOffice (MS Project, Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Able to connect potential packaging legislative impacts to business
- Confident public speaker
- Highly proficient in English language skills both written and verbal. Spanish or French is a plus
- Project Management skills
- Excellent people, communication, presentation skills
- Ability to plan, delegate, and multi-task
- Ability to work both independently as well as in cross functional teams

The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations.Ranges are determined by role, level and location. Within the range, individual pay is defined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. This compensation range is based on a full-time schedule. The estimate displayed is just one component of Tetra Pak's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards include overtime, annual performance bonus, competitive benefits, and work-related allowances.
Annual Base Salary Range (ABS): $100,100.00 – $128,500.00Short-term Incentive/Bonus (Variable Pay): Eligible to performance incentive of 10% of ABS.Benefits: 401k company match, paid time off, paid holidays, health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, paid parental leave, company credit card, and much more!
