We are seeking an experienced AWS Cloud Architect to lead the migration of on-prem applications from a hosted environment to AWS Cloud. This role will focus on designing and executing a lift-and-shift migration strategy, ensuring minimal disruption to operations. Following migration, the architect will drive the modernization of applications by adopting cloud-native technologies.
The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in AWS cloud architecture, migration strategies, security, and automation. This role requires collaboration with engineering, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to ensure a successful transition to the cloud and ongoing optimization.
Required Qualifications
- 15 years of experience in IT architecture, including 5 years of AWS cloud architecture and migration experience.
- Strong knowledge of AWS services such as EC2, VPC, RDS, S3, Lambda, IAM, Route 53, CloudWatch, CloudFormation, and AWS Security tools.
- Hands-on experience with lift-and-shift migrations of applications to AWS.
- Expertise in networking, security, and compliance in AWS environments.
- Experience with Terraform, CloudFormation, or other infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools.
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline, etc.).
- Understanding of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes, AWS ECS/EKS).
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and influence stakeholders.
AWS Cloud Migration (Lift-and-Shift)
- Develop and implement a lift-and-shift migration strategy to move applications and workloads to AWS Cloud.
- Assess existing applications, infrastructure, and dependencies to create migration blueprints.
- Work closely with engineering and operations teams to execute the migration plan with minimal downtime.
- Utilize AWS services such as EC2, VPC, RDS, S3, IAM, CloudFormation, and Migration Hub to enable a seamless transition.
- Establish best practices for AWS networking, security, and cost efficiency.
Post-Migration Modernization
- Identify opportunities to optimize workloads through cloud-native solutions, including serverless computing, containerization (ECS/EKS), and microservices.
- Develop a roadmap for refactoring or re-platforming applications to improve scalability, resilience, and efficiency.
- Implement CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code (IaC), and automated monitoring for cloud workloads.
- Collaborate with developers, DevOps, and security teams to adopt modern cloud technologies and best practices.
Security, Compliance & Governance
- Define and enforce cloud security best practices, including identity and access management (IAM), encryption, and monitoring.
- Work with security teams to conduct risk assessments and implement necessary cloud security controls.
- Ensure compliance with industry-standard security frameworks and operational policies.
Collaboration & Leadership
- Act as a technical advisor and mentor for engineering teams adopting cloud technologies.
- Partner with business and IT stakeholders to align cloud strategies with company objectives.
- Provide documentation and knowledge transfer to internal teams for long-term AWS management.
