Tetramer Technologies seeks a Chemical Process Technician to support the development of adsorbent materials for protective garments under a Department of Defense-funded program. The program focuses on advancing Metal-Organic Framework (MOF) technology to protect soldiers from chemical and biological threats.

The Chemical Process Technician will play a key role in executing experimental processes, monitoring equipment, and ensuring safety and quality standards. This role involves handling chemical processes in MOF technology development, operating laboratory and pilot-scale equipment, and supporting process scale-up.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate and monitor equipment, such as reactors, pumps, and filtration systems, to carry out chemical processes related to MOF-based adsorbent material development.
  • Prepare and mix chemical ingredients, adhering to precise formulations and safety protocols.
  • Monitor process parameters and respond to alarms or deviations, ensuring adherence to operating standards.
  • Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on lab and production equipment.
  • Collect and analyze process samples, adjusting parameters as needed to meet project goals.
  • Record detailed data on processes, equipment performance, and chemical reactions in compliance with project requirements.
  • Participates in company safety program and company quality management process.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma required; additional training or certifications in chemical processes or related fields preferred.
  • At least one of the following:
  • * 1 year experience in a chemical process environment.* 5 years of experience in manufacturing.* Associate’s degree in a manufacturing-related program.* Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, materials science, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with chemical process fundamentals, batch processing, and lab safety practices.
  • Ability to operate and troubleshoot mechanical equipment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with adsorbent materials, MOFs, or chemical warfare defense applications is highly desirable.

Physical Demands:

  • Capable of lifting and moving up to 60 pounds
  • This position requires working 8 hour shifts while standing for long periods of time. Employees must be able to work scheduled (planned) days as well as unscheduled (unplanned/short notice) hours on off days as needed to meet business needs.

Work Environment: The Chemical Operator will work in a laboratory and pilot-scale environment with occasional exposure to industrial noise levels. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will interact with materials that may generate fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. It is expected that the employee will follow all company, OSHA, and SCDES required safety procedures and wear all required Personal Protective equipment (Lab coat, safety glasses, gloves and possibly a face shield or respirator while in production areas).

Compensation and Benefits: This is a full-time, hourly role with competitive pay and benefits. Daytime shift.
