Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Educator to join our team. The Prevention Coordinator will have primary responsibility and oversight for the coordination and implementation of the Gender Justice (GJ) gender-based violence prevention education programming, as well as, coordinating the youth-led initiatives for the organization. Our prevention-focused programs cultivate consent culture through education and the creation of inclusive community spaces. This position will include training and youth engagement activities for prevention projects.
Duties
- Coordinates and oversees the implementation of prevention education curriculums within schools, community and other spaces
- Collaboratively supports and develops youth led projects and activities with youth council
- Plans, implements and reflects upon monthly youth council meetings and monthly events. This often requires collaboration with families, guest speakers, and partner organizations.
- Coordinates and supervises project facilitators, youth facilitators and contractors while implementing projects which includes organizing and developing cohort schedules for each cohort
- Supervises, delegate tasks, and maintains timely communications with the project facilitators, supporting contractor(s) and volunteers within the coordinator’s project area
- Support cohorts by serving as curriculum facilitator and observer as needed
- Ensure that processes and procedures are followed according to the implementation plan
- Maintains confidentiality of individuals seen at TWU and through the prevention education projects
Skills
- Strong written, verbal, and listening communication skills to effectively and respectfully work with a diversity of audiences and situations
- Knowledge of Google Suite, Monday.com or comparable program, and database management software is desirable
- Strong group management skills
- Ability to interact with a variety of personnel at different levels of responsibility
- Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships with co-workers and colleagues, collaborative partners, board members, government officials, volunteers, customers, and constituents
- Multilingualism is preferred – Spanish, Indigenous/Tribal languages, English
- Knowledge and practice of collaborative problem-solving conflict resolution, participatory planning, and community-based research/assessment.
- Comfortable discussing topics such as gender justice, sexual violence, sexual harassment, consent, sexual assault, menstrual health, etc.
