What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Mathematics position at Texarkana Independent School District?
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Director of Mathematics will provide district-wide leadership and support for the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of mathematics curricula across all grade levels, PreK-12. This position will focus on the successful implementation of High-Quality Instructional Materials (HQIM), the district’s mathematics instructional framework, professional development for educators, and the analysis of data to drive instructional decisions and student achievement. The Director will work collaboratively with campus leaders, teachers, and other district departments to ensure a high standard of instruction and student success in mathematics.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
Master’s degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or related field
Valid Texas teaching certification
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of all applicable federal, state, and local laws, guidelines, and procedures
Strong understanding of High-Quality Instructional Materials (HQIM).
Strong understanding of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for Mathematics.
Experience in the development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum and instructional frameworks.
Proven experience in analyzing student data and using it to drive instructional improvement.
Strong knowledge of current best practices in professional development, instructional strategies, and educational technology.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
Ability to evaluate instructional program and teaching effectiveness
Ability to manage budget and personnel
Ability to interpret policy, procedures, and data
Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
Calm and patient demeanor with students and adults
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of successful classroom teaching experience in mathematics (PK-12)
Minimum of 5 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
