The current focus of the group is on hydrological modeling, water system dynamics modeling, and remote sensing data applications in West Texas. The postdoc will have an opportunity to gain experience in the field as well as lab studies. Responsibilities Develop MODFLOW and SWAT models for the complex surface and groundwater systems. Assess land use/cover and climate change impacts using these hydrological models. Evaluate resilient water management practices for water systems in far-west Texas. Lead in data collection, storage, and processing required for the modeling. Conduct field and lab experiments as needed. Compose research articles for publication. Assist supervisor in writing grant proposals. Train and supervise other personnel of the research group. Performs other duties as assigned related to the ongoing research projects. Required Education and Experience Ph.D. in Hydrology, Hydraulics, Water Resources Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, or a closely related field. Preferred Education and Experience Hydrological model coupling experience. Remote sensing data integration into the hydrological models. Ability to modify processes in the MODFLOW and SWAT. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Publications in the domain. Knowledge of surface and groundwater interactions. Skills in modeling complex watersheds. Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others. Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of arid and semi-arid water systems. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Willingness and ability to work with colleagues and other collaborating groups, stakeholders, and extension agents.
