Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Designing and conducting novel experiments within the lab while integrating collaborators, analyzing and interpreting bioinformatic data.
- Contributing to future research through preservation of specimens at the appropriate collections,
- Training and mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students.
- Prepare and publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals, applying for grant funding for further research projects, and presenting research results at conferences.
- Assisting with mentorship of students within the group and guidance on student team projects is critical.
- Oversee and manage laboratory operations, ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
Required Education:
- Ph.D. in entomology or a related area
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent oral, written and computer skills.
- Ability to multi task and work cooperatively with others.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Experience with student mentorship and providing instruction on relevant topics.
- Highly collaborative and ability to participate in interdisciplinary research, both within the university and internationally.
- Expertise in phylogenomic, molecular systematics, insect ecology, and forensic entomology.
- Supervisory skills.
