The Financial Account II, under direction, performs daily accounting tasks within Financial Services while maintaining excellent customer service to support agency operations for Monthly and Biweekly Payroll. Computes and analyzes financial transactions with time sensitive deadlines. This position is responsible for assisting in review of payroll time entries and assisting with recommendations to solve accounting or financial problems. This position is also responsible for providing technical support for the various payroll applications & distributes payroll reports from the Workday system to divisions as needed. The Financial Accountant II reviews & initiates payroll corrections, supplemental pay items as requested and provides backup, as assigned, to other personnel in Financial Services.
This position reports to the Assistant Financial Manager.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university or an equivalent combination of education and experience. (equivalency: will consider an Associate’s degree with four years of related business experience or a High School Diploma/GED with six years of related business experience).
- Two years related business experience.
- Must have a valid motor vehicle operator’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited college or university.
- Two years of governmental accounting experience or TAMUS experience.
- Accounting experience in business office.
- Knowledge of Workday, Masterpiece, FAMIS, USAS systems.
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
- Ability to regularly use a computer/keyboard.
- Ability to move up to 50 lbs. of accounting related files and documents with assistance.
- Ability to travel independently to other and/or remote locations by driving and/or flying on commercial airlines.
- Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software.
- Knowledge of accounting practices.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Strong Customer service and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
- Standard office equipment: computer, keyboard, multifunctional printer, scanner, telephone.
- This position is security sensitive.
- This position may require work beyond normal office hours and/or work on weekends.
- This position requires compliance with state and federal laws/codes and Texas A&M University System/TEEX regulations and procedures.

Manage employee payroll actions and information - 70%
- Review and examine Workday business process for Monthly and Biweekly payroll to detect time entry discrepancies and analyzes data to ensure employees receive their appropriate pay.
- Collaborate with Assistant Financial Accountant, Financial Manager and other representatives and coordinate pay calculations.
- Analyzes and distributes Workday payroll reports to Division Timekeepers to meet payroll and Retro time sensitive deadlines.
- Analyzes and processes supplemental pay requests, deployment payments via Laserfiche application request for Extra Pay, Longevity payment documents, Military pay and Lump Sum payouts.
- Initiate Workday business processes of costing allocation changes as needed.
- Maintains and reconciles division request for employee enrollment and changes of agency Telecommunication allowances.
- Provides reports to divisions upon request.
- Initiate Payroll Cost Transfer corrections in the TAMUS Canopy system.
- Processes Payroll Salary Transfer documents.
- Assess new hire Workday profile to ensure biweekly employees Time & Project Hierarchy Module are added.
- Perform additional reviews when needed for dual-titled employees.
- Assist with FAMIS payroll tables for GR & accounting analysis table to facilitate reporting distribution.
- Maintaining SIT payments.
- GIP & Deduct type voucher preparation.
- Backup for Assistant Financial Manager - Monthly/Biweekly Payroll.
- Provides business and financial support to other Financial Services positions as needed or assigned.
- Special projects assigned by TEEX Controller.
- May travel to other locations to assist divisions with payroll-related concerns and/or issues.
- Provides customer service regarding payroll issues to employees and payroll processors regarding the completion of complex payroll situations.
- Advise and answer questions relating to payroll procedures and policies.
- Answers general accounting questions.
- Conduct division payroll training for employees and supervisors as requested.
- Provide new employee training as needed.
- Maintain Files and Records of paid payroll items.
- Adheres to TAMUS record retention guidelines.
- Performs additional work duties as assigned.
