The Medical Receptionist provides staff support and performs business activities.
Required Education and Experience :
High school diploma or GED
Two years of related experience in general office, medical office or related areas
Preferred Qualifications :
1 year of front desk coverage experience in an Academic Outpatient Psychiatry clinic
Responsibilities : Administrative
Provides coverage on phones, assisting with patient needs / questions, make reminder calls
Enters and updates demographics for patients
Greets patients and visitors, route calls and make routine appointments
Assists with processing correspondence and managing phone calls and faxes
Assists providers by notifying them of patient’s arrival, supplying paperwork needed for specific appointment, and maintaining supply of medical forms, release of information forms and educational handouts
Obtains vital signs from patients
Monitors, organizes, and creates orders for office and clinic supply inventory
Receives, verifies, and logs receipt of documents within Electronic Medical Records system
Assists with scheduling meetings
Processing Outside Referrals
Monitors electronic referrals, create charts and process
Contacts new patients to schedule appointments
Document Processing
Copies, scans and files in electronic medical records programs
Prepares various work orders and manage service calls and repairs
Sends, receives, and distributes mail and correspondence
Other Duties
Disseminates general business information to students, faculty, staff, and the general public about the clinic
Performs other duties as assigned
