What we want
The Research Scientist, conducts field-based research, analyzes and disseminates research data, and provides leadership and coordination of Education Research Center activities.

Responsibilities
Research
Conduct field-based research in Pre-K schools and with programs based in Institutions of Higher Education and / or supported by foundations.
Mentoring / Supervision
Assist the Education Research Center director on research and evaluation projects and other center-wide activities. Assume supervision of graduate students, research associates, and research interns.
Reports / Presentations
Develop research and technical reports related to findings of the ERC’s work for distribution to funders, as well as to the dean and department head. Prepare and disseminate scholarly publications, presentations, and research reports.
Administrative
Provide leadership and coordination for external research grants obtained by the Education Research Center. Develop and implement budgets and supervise fiscal operations of the Education Research Center. Monitor project-related expenditures. Investigate and identify funding opportunities (RFPs).Develop and write grant proposals to secure external funding for the ERC
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
Ph.D. with an emphasis on evaluation.
6 years’ relevant professional experience in conducting research and evaluations of educational programs and working in progressively responsible leadership position in an educational research center
Preferred Qualifications
10 or more years' relevant professional experience in : Conducting research and evaluations of educational programs
Working in progressively responsible leadership position in an educational research center or institute
Extensive experience in writing research and evaluation reports and disseminating educational research
Extensive experience writing grant proposals and managing research projects
Extensive experience working with populations in urban PK-12 educational settings
Extensive experience in conducting, writing, and disseminating educational research
Extensive experience in managing grants and research projects
Evidence of publishing educational research
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Extensive knowledge of qualitative educational research methods
Excellent writing and editing skills
Willing and able to work in a collaborative, team-based, multidisciplinary environment
Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others
Other Requirements and Factors
This position may require work beyond normal office hours and / or work on weekends
This is a wage position established to accommodate a temporary organizational need. As such, TAMU does not guarantee any set number of hours or length of employment in this role
This position is funded from grant and / or contract funding, which is renewed through provisions of the grantor of the contract. Therefore, this position is contingent upon continuation of funding from these grants and / or contracts, as well as satisfactory job performance
This position is security sensitive
This position requires compliance with state and federal laws / codes and Texas A&M University System / TAMU policies, regulations, rules, and procedures
