Job Summary

The Program Specialist I (Library E-Resources), under general supervision, performs entry-level specialist duties for a department, college, or division.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists in planning, developing, implementing, coordinating, and monitoring programs and services.
  • Plans and develops specialized programs such as conferences, seminars, lectures, meetings, and workshops to facilitate program goals.
  • Coordinates specialized program communications and marketing materials.
  • Assists in the development of policies and procedures. Assists in the preparation and maintenance of budgets, special reports, and other documents.
  • Attends meetings and conferences to discuss the progress of assigned programs.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Assists with daily operations in the library regarding electronic resources including database management, resource evaluation, activation, troubleshooting, and assisting in the evaluation and acquisition of new electronic resources.
  • Tracks, troubleshoots, and maintains access for electronic resources. Assists in ensuring access is available to patrons via multiple discovery methods (e.g., library catalog, EBSCO discovery service, link resolver, online A to Z periodical list, and the online A to Z database lists).
  • Maintains database holdings with the most current information in appropriate electronic resources. Assists librarian in maintaining administrative accounts for electronic resource platforms and vendor databases to manage content and generate reports.
  • Responds to and resolves electronic resources administration, access, and discovery issues in a timely manner via ticketing system, e-mail, and direct communication. Employs troubleshooting and technical skills to resolve issues (including discrepancies with orders, invoices, and title lists) consulting with internal and external partners as necessary.
  • Minimum Requirements

  • Education – Bachelor’s degree in applicable field.
  • Experience – No experience required.
  • Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, logistics, library & information science, or data management / science.
  • Experience working with electronic resources in an academic library setting.
  • Experience compiling and assessing data.
  • Knowledge and Abilities

    Knowledge of :

  • Word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Ability to :

  • Multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills.
  • Maintain attention to detail and utilize sound judgment.
  • Preferred Knowledge and Abilities

  • Knowledge of statistical software and data visualization tools (such as SPSS, R, SAS, STATA, Excel, Python, Tableau, or BI).
  • Knowledge of relational database systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Licensing / Professional Certification – None.
