Job Description
The Director of Data Analytics, under general direction, develops, manages, and coordinates Institutional Research operations. Collaborates with faculty and staff to compile, analyze, and report a wide range of institutional data, which includes institutional characteristics, enrollments, and student achievements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The Director of Data Analytics, under general direction, develops, manages, and coordinates Institutional Research operations.
- Collaborates with faculty and staff to compile, analyze, and report a wide range of institutional data, which includes institutional characteristics, enrollments, and student achievements.
- Ensures that information is collected, and official reports are produced in a timely manner to maintain compliance with Federal, State, System, and University reporting requirements.
- Oversees the design, development, and maintenance of online databases as well as the composite information system storing archival information for retrieval to enhance reporting.
- Develops technologically driven enhancements for providing internal constituents with access to data and information for decision making.
- Manages daily activities of the department with regards to recruiting and selection, hiring and terminating, training, professional development, mentoring, counseling, and performance evaluations.
- Analyzes University data and prepares reports and executive summaries.
- Administers the budget and oversees the fiscal operations of assigned department.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ten (10) years of related experience including at least two (2) years of related supervisory experience.
- Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications with a proficiency with Microsoft Exel.
- Knowledge of statistical analysis tools.
- Knowledge of report editing, data marts, and statistics.
- Experience working with SIS, SQL and data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau).
- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
- Ability to write moderate to complex queries in SQL or WebFOCUS programming language.
- Ability to run, analyze, and extract data from statistical analysis tool(s), including SPSS, SAS, STATA, or similar software.
- Effective organizational and time management skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to communicate complex statistical analyses to a non-technical audience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Ellucian’s Banner Database
- Experience in higher education
- Knowledge of data integrations with third-party applications
- Knowledge of Business Objects and MicroStrategy
