What are the responsibilities and job description for the Academic Professional Track (Non-Tenure) : Lecturer position at Texas A&M University?
The Maritime Transportation Department (MART) in the College of Marine Sciences & Maritime Studies at Texas A&M University invites applications for one full-time, non-tenure track position with a 3-month academic appointment beginning on May 1, 2025 through July 31, 2025. Applicants will be considered for the faculty title of Lecturer of topics in marine transportation, navigation, seamanship, and deck machinery courses.
A seasonal faculty Lecturer will enhance the quality of undergraduate and graduate license option education and will assist in teaching the required material for MART 200 (Deck Sea Training I – Basic), MART 300 (Deck Sea Training II – Intermediate) & MART 400 (Deck Sea Training III – Advanced) sea term rotations. The new Lecturer will integrate both academic and ship operations to maintain licensing and educational requirements. Inasmuch as these Lecturer positions are to teach on board a state maritime academy training vessel, hires must also be experienced maritime academy lecturers.

To qualify for Lecturer, Marine Transportation candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university requiring a high level of technical knowledge, skills, and expertise, and experience that aligns with Texas A&M’s land-, sea-, and space-grant mission.
Examples of related experience include but are not limited to : Terrestrial and / or Celestial navigation, Project Management, Training and Orientation, Quality Assurance, Vessel Structure & Stability, Hardware Inspection and Configuration, Electronic Navigation, or Tooling and Fabrication.
Applicants must have recent maritime academy teaching experience and experience in the functions of Internal Combustion Engines and / or Deck Machinery.
This position is ideal for an experienced mechanically inclined individual who has academic credentials and a background in project management or military experience.
