What We Want
Contract Negotiators at SRS negotiate agreements and assist with post-award contract administration. This includes but isn’t limited to writing and reviewing agreements, negotiating with sponsors/subcontractors, reviewing terms and conditions of funding agreements from federal, state, foreign, non-profit and industry sponsors and unfunded agreements such as non-disclosure agreements, material transfer agreements, collaboration agreements, and data use/data transfer agreements, collaborating with a variety of stakeholders regarding documentation approval and review, and ensuring compliance with The Texas A&M University System (TAMUS) policies, Federal and State laws and regulations, and sponsor guidelines.

Minimum qualifications for a Contract Negotiator I:

Required Education And Experience
Minimum qualifications for a Contract Negotiator I:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience and two years of related experience.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience and four years’ experience in contract negotiations and/or research administration.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience and six years’ experience in contract negotiations and/or research administration.
Contract Negotiator I and II candidates would possess the following qualifications and skills:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
- Keen attention to detail
- Creative critical thinking aptitude
- Possess all qualifications listed for the entry-level titles
- Certified Research Administrator designation,
- Advanced degrees (Master’s, Juris Doctorate, PhD, or other advanced degree)
- Multiple years of experience in a university/academic setting with business or legal operations
- Advanced research administration and coordination experience
- Risk mitigation knowledge and aptitude
- Resourceful problem solving capabilities
- Compensation and classification is based on the analyses of the above qualifications during the recruitment process.
