A Glimpse of the Job:

The Coordinator of Presidential Stewardship is an administrative role within the Office of the President Communications and Engagements team. The position coordinates the donor relations and stewardship strategy for the Office of the President to ensure exceptional stewardship and recognition for principal gift donors to Texas A&M University. The coordinator prepares alumni and donor-related correspondence and recognition strategies and works with the Texas A&M University philanthropic affiliate organizations (12th Man Foundation, The Association of Former Students, George and Barbara Bush Foundation, Texas Aggie Corps of Cadets Association, and the Texas A&M Foundation) ensuring their philanthropic investments are meaningfully acknowledged by the Office of the President and aligned with the university’s strategic priorities. This position plays a crucial role in fostering positive relationships with former students, donors and friends of the university’s philanthropic affiliate organizations.

Salary Range: $60-72k annually. Compensation will be commensurate to selected hire’s experience.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Four or more years of related experience in alumni relations, donor engagement and stewardship, or fundraising and philanthropy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional experience in communications.

  • Degree in communications, English, nonprofit management, public relations, business administration/management/marketing, or hospitality.

  • Master’s degree.

  • More than 4 years of experience in development or professional administrative experience in higher education.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent written, editing and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong organizational and administrative skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accuracy and consistency in documentation.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Experience in donor management systems and familiarity with basic fundraising principles.

  • Enthusiasm for the organization's mission and goals.

  • Ability to multi-task and work independently with a set of guidelines.

  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends for events.

  • Basic graphic design and content creation skills.

  • Knowledge of best practices in alumni and donor relations in the nonprofit and higher education sector.

  • High level of discretion and professionalism to maintain confidentiality at all times.

Essential Duties/Tasks:

  • Stewardship - Assists in the development and execution of the donor relations and stewardship strategy for the Office of the President with a keen eye on top 100 donors and friends of Texas A&M, as well as affiliate board members to complement established processes of affiliate partners. Works in collaboration with affiliates to celebrate and creatively steward donors to the university that merit the president’s involvement (i.e. thank you notes, birthday cards, condolences, congratulatory letters, phone calls, special events, meetings, etc.). Tracks Office of the President donor touchpoints, gifts, and special recognitions, ensuring timely and accurate acknowledgement, working collaboratively with the Texas A&M Foundation and their database. Drafts and proofreads correspondence to and from the Office of the President and senior leadership, including bios, thank you letters, acknowledgements, donor updates, contact reports, etc. Provides logistical support for donor recognition events, VIP receptions, and stewardship-focused activities.

  • Special Programs and Services - Assists with planned programs and services, including but not limited to, the Office of the President football suite. Works in collaboration with the Coordinator for Presidential Engagements to ensure the president is adequately prepared for engagements, meetings and events with potential donor involvement.

  • Business - Coordinates purchasing and payment for items and expenses related to stewardship.

  • Other Duties - Performs other duties as assigned. Contributes as a team member by providing support to the various activities of the Office of the President, as needed. Provides excellent customer service by displaying a positive and respectful demeanor and responding to inquiries and requests in a timely and professional manner.

  • This position requires compliance with state and federal laws/codes and Texas A&M University System/TAMU policies, regulations, rules and procedures.
