As a Research Associate, you will play a pivotal role in advancing our research initiatives. Under general supervision, you will conduct cutting-edge research and ensure the smooth operation of our laboratory by managing supplies through AggieBuy. You will supervise student workers, overseeing tasks such as cleaning, biohazardous waste removal, and other essential duties. Your responsibilities will also include assisting with research animal experiments in accordance with approved protocols and maintaining our high containment biosafety level 3 (BSL-3) laboratory. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to perform independent experiments, contributing to our innovative research projects.

Required Education and Experience :
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
- Two years of related experience in biological laboratory research
- Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing
- Ability to positively and professionally interact with faculty, students, and staff
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software and instructional programs
- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others
- Experience in a microbiology laboratory
- Experience working in BL2 and BL3 laboratories
- Experience working with animals
Research:
- Performing independent microbiology experiments under general supervision to advance the aims of the grants in the lab.
- Design and execute experiments and then present the results at weekly meetings to supervisor.
- Keep detailed records of experiments and results and compile results into summaries for review by others.
- Basic laboratory maintenance and supervising students.
- Stocking and ordering all laboratory supplies through Aggiebuy to maintain normal functions.
- Cleaning and maintaining equipment used in the laboratory including initiating repairs.
- Performing duties listed on animal use protocols (AUPs) and standard operating procedures (SOPs) in the BSL3.
- Assisting with animal experiments in both BL2 and BL3 spaces. Basic laboratory maintenance of BSL3 supplies and waste removal.
- Ability to move light, medium or heavy objects with assistance.
- Some lifting/carrying of research packages.
