The SRS Research Administrator Assistant Manager: Post-Award is responsible for: working with their Assistant Director and post-award team to determine solutions to complex issues associated with sponsored projects; coordinating complex administrative and financial details with researchers, department heads, deans and other university staff with an emphasis on post-award administration of sponsored projects; managing post award team documentation and reviewing award terms to include budget, revenue and billing requirements; and training and supervising a post-award team.

Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Four years of experience in a university or business environment.
- Excellent critical thinking and analytical capabilities with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational, interpersonal, proofreading and time management skills.
- Ability to apply problem‐ solving skills to complex problems, prioritize and manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
- Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software.
- Ability to multi‐ task and work cooperatively with others.
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field.
- Experience in sponsored research projects management and/or accounting.
- Experience within the A&M System or other university setting.
- Experience in post‐award administration in a university setting.
- Experience interpreting and monitoring compliance with federal regulations, including OMB Circulars and Code of Federal Regulations, as they pertain to sponsored research.
- Progressively responsible budgeting and/or project administration experience.
- Certified Research Administrator (CRA).
- Strong mathematical and comprehension skills.
- Advanced knowledge of Word, Excel and FAMIS, and/or Maestro.
- Project Coordination- Independently serves as the assistant manager for their post‐award team. Responsible for supervising post‐award team and will work with their Assistant Director and post‐award team to determine solutions to most complex issues associated with sponsored projects. Coordinates most complex administrative and financial details with researchers, department heads, deans and other university staff with an emphasis on post‐award administration of sponsored projects. Interprets/communicates award documents, sponsor regulations, federal, and state laws/regulations, System policies and member rules for/to researches and departmental staff. Contacts sponsors for revisions and approvals which include budget revisions, compliance issues, change of Principal Investigator, time extensions, additional funds requests. Assistant managers will work with their Assistant Director on post‐award team workload as well as effort management and training of the project support groups.
- Award Establishment and Monitoring- As a supervisor, manages post‐award teams award documentation and review of award terms and other financial information into the A&M System accounting and research administration systems which includes budget, revenue, billing requirements, Facilities and Administrative cost rates, cost‐sharing commitments, compliance regulations and reporting requirements.
- Financial Review, Approval and Reporting- Approves financial commitments for compliance to sponsor guidelines on behalf of the member. Research regulations to provide financial and regulatory guidance on most complex issues to researchers, departments and administrative offices. Provides financial data, as requested, to researchers, departments, members, sponsors and auditors. Monitors cost sharing committed to sponsor.
- Training and Supervision- Works with other Team Leads and Assistant Directors in training and mentoring post‐award teams. Assists less experienced staff in making recommendations to Assistant Directors regarding complex and non‐standard post award issues. Develops and presents recommendations to the Assistant Directors on policy and procedure development and provides input on strategic planning. Will be responsible for hiring and training post‐award team.
- Financial close‐out- Initiates financial close‐out of sponsored research projects according to sponsor guidelines. Performs other duties as assigned.
