NOTE:

The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission is seeking interns to serve in the Training Division for summer 2025 for up to 40 hours a week from June 2 through August 29, 2025. All internships are in-office employment only.


The Training Division helps the agency better serve Texans by developing innovative initiatives and maintaining inclusive training for staff, law enforcement, and TABC-licensed businesses. By strengthening employee leadership skills and growing partnerships, the division prepares the agency to adapt to new challenges and the growth of the state and the alcoholic beverage industry. Training for TABC agents and other commissioned peace officers keeps up with the latest trends in law enforcement and complies with Texas Commission on Law Enforcement training standards and mandates.


GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Performs highly complex support work and assists Training division staff with general office duties. General office duties include but are not limited to coordinating clerical activities such as compiling and tabulating data, research, data entry, checking documents for accuracy, assists in managing the flow of paperwork, and maintaining files. Works under limited supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

  • Performs support work for division program areas. 
  • Provides project assistance. 
  • Evaluates and provides feedback on division’s functionality to improve efficiency, streamline programs, or cut costs. 
  • Conducts research as requested for various projects. 
  • Creates, designs or edits support materials, such as charts, graphs, or other visuals and prepares correspondence, reports, studies, forms, and documents. 
  • Assists with special projects and performs other duties as assigned. 



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 
Graduation from a standard high school or equivalent.  
AND
Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university.
Must be able to pass a background check. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in clerical work.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: 
•Knowledge of office procedures; of spelling, punctuation, grammar, and arithmetic; of business or program terminology, methods, and procedures; and of records administration and maintenance techniques and procedures.
•Skill in the use of a computer, computer programs (e.g., Microsoft Suite and Adobe Acrobat) and office equipment (e.g., printer and scanner).
•Skill in critical thinking and problem solving with attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
•Ability to prepare and maintain records, files, and reports; to transfer stock from one location to another; to make arithmetic computations; and to communicate effectively.


REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE: 
Must be able to present a copy of college transcript. 


This position functions in a standard office environment. Must be able to move about the office to access file cabinets, office equipment, etc. Must be able to communicate and exchange accurate information via telephone, computer and in person. Must be able to perform repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation. Must be able to work with overlapping deadlines. Required to work as a team member, and work with sensitive and confidential information.
