This position is a member of our Air Monitoring Division.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience working in an analytical laboratory or working with analytical laboratory equipment (e.g. analytical instruments, compressed gases, cleaning apparatus, etc.).
- Experience performing maintenance, calibrations, or audits on laboratory instruments or air monitoring equipment.
- Experience performing sample analyses with Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometer (FTIR).
- Experience with ambient air monitoring equipment.
HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING...
- Perform moderately complex chemical and instrumental analyses on gas and measurement transfer standards to support the air monitoring network, perform analytical instrument maintenance/troubleshooting, and review and interpret analytical data and results.
- Prepare samples and standards to be used in instrumental and/or chemical analyses; perform quality control procedures. Maintain defensible quality control (QC) and data analysis reports of all calibration standards and equipment used by the laboratory to support the air monitoring network data quality objectives following standard operating procedures (SOPs) and network quality assurance project plans (QAPPs).
- Document any deviations from SOPs and assist with the development of corrective action plans and reporting; document all activities in the appropriate logbooks; assist with developing, reviewing, and updating SOPs. Assist with the purchase and maintenance of laboratory and sampling equipment and supplies.
- Maintain equipment and parts; maintain documentation of calibration laboratory supply inventory; maintain calibration laboratory document control in accordance with established record retention schedules. Assist with developing, implementing, and monitoring laboratory procedures and/or safety guidelines.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
A bachelor's degree in a natural or physical science from an accredited college or university which included 24 semester hours in chemistry that included 3 semester hours in analytical chemistry or instrumental analysis.
- One year of full-time experience in the field of Chemist activities may be substituted for each year (30 semester hours) of the required education.
