YOUR FUTURE TEAM
As part of TCEQ’s Office of Waste, you would contribute to agency efforts to regulate the generation, treatment, storage, and disposal of various wastes and the cleanup of contaminated sites. See details about what we do.
This position is a member of our Remediation Division.
HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
- Perform advanced technical work and oversee soil and groundwater corrective action projects requiring interpretation of geoscientific information independently for the TCEQ.
- Oversee and coordinate advanced remediation projects, which includes drafting documents to address technical reviews and queries; track correspondence to ensure completion in a timely manner.
- Process site-specific special projects associated with remediation that are outside the standard workflow.
- Provide leadership, geoscience expertise, management support, expert guidance, to the team/section/division and agency staff.
- Maintain files and database(s). Keep management updated on facility progress.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with the assessment or remediation of sites under Texas Risk Reduction Program (TRRP) / 30 TAC 350.
- Experience overseeing or conducting soil or groundwater site assessments.
- Experience mentoring or training staff on technical topics.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
Licensed as a Geoscientist by the Texas Board of Professional Geoscientists (TBPG) plus four years of full-time geoscientific experience beyond licensure.
OR
Nine years of full-time geoscientist experience and must obtain Geoscientist licensure within twelve (12) months of hire date by the Texas Board of Professional Geoscientists (TBPG).
OR
Two years of full-time TCEQ experience as a Geoscientist II.
A graduate degree in a geoscience discipline may substitute for one year of the required experience, with a maximum of two years substitution allowed.

CURRENT TCEQ EMPLOYEES
This position is also available as a lateral transfer opportunity (LTO) to TCEQ employees within the Geoscientist I-III state classification. The selected candidate must meet the minimum qualifications of the corresponding job in the Geoscientist I-III series.
