MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
The Director III performs advanced managerial work providing
direction and guidance in strategic operations and planning.

the strategic plan, goals, and objectives; developing policies,
procedures, and guidelines; establishing priorities, standards, and
measurement tools for determining progress in meeting goals;
coordinating and evaluating program activities; reviewing and
approving budgets within departments; and supervising the work
of others. Works under minimal supervision with extensive latitude
for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
YOU QUALIFY WITH
A bachelor's degree and ten (10) years of full-time, wage-earning
experience in the management or oversight of the confinement, treatment,
or rehabilitation of inmates or experience in a governmental agency which
includes duties such as setting goals, developing methods to meet goals,
monitoring progress, evaluating results, and authorizing changes to program
polocies and procedures, and independently making decisions and solving
problems related to the program. Five (5) of the ten (10) years must be in a
supervisory role. Additional experience can be substituted for the
bachelor's degree.
YOU ARE A GREAT FIT WITH
1. Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations
relevant to the program areas and principles and practices of
public administration and management.
2. Knowledge of agency and departmental organizational structure,
policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
3. Ability to direct and organize program activities and establish
program goals and objectives that support the strategic plan.
4. Proven ability to identify problems, evaluate alternatives, and
implement effective solutions while interpreting and applying
rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
5. Experience directing the development and evaluation of agency
policies and procedures.
6. Ability to successfully communicate ideas and instructions
clearly and concisely, and ability to coordinate with other
staff, departments, officials, agencies, organizations, and
the public.
**The salary for an ERS Retiree (or non-contributing member) will
be 2.5% less.**
