GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Our mission at the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV) is to serve, protect and advance the citizens and industries in the state with quality motor vehicle related services. We are a dynamic state agency dedicated to customer service, consumer protection and the success of motor vehicle-related industries.
Reporting to the License Plate Manager, the VTR Special Service Inspector is responsible for verifying shipments, providing complex customer service, maintaining and updating inventory data, spreadsheets and reports. Provides customer service for license plate distribution activities in the Vehicle Titles and Registration Division (VTR). Work may be performed at a Texas Department of Criminal Justice facility and may require contact with governmental agencies. Oversees inmate labor in warehouse operations involve order picking, shipping, receiving, storing license plates, and various inventory items. The job will entail 50% travel, primarily during working hours, with some overnight travel.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Provide quality customer service to dealerships, county tax offices and industry stakeholders regarding license plate distribution.
- Prepare and edit correspondence for dealerships, county tax office and industry stakeholders.
- Review applications and make determinations on allocation requests using inventory management system.
- Provide expert assistance in monitoring, forecasting and allocating inventory requirements.
- Oversee inventory organization and perform inventory audits.
- Oversee warehousing, receiving and shipping activities involving license plates, stickers and forms and other inventory items.
- Participates in team meetings to contribute to the development of best-practice procedures.
- May provide training and oversee warehouse work assignments for inmates.
- Monitor inventory and stock control records through an automated system.
- Research and audit inventory returns, overages and shortages.
- Monitor warehouse inventory for compliance with department procedures.
- Traveling up to 50% of the time.
- May include overnight travel by car and possibly by plane.
- Required to attend work regularly and adhere to approved work hours in accordance with department policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Graduation from high school or equivalent.
Experience
- Three (3) years’ experience in a high-volume customer service, warehouse, or general office administration environment.
- No education substitution is available for experience.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- May be required to lift and carry boxes of paper and/or license plates weighing up to 50 lbs.

REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION AND/OR LICENSURE
A valid Class "C" driver's license is required. If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas Driver's License within ninety (90) days after entering Texas as a new resident. A satisfactory driving record is required for operating state or personal vehicles to conduct department business.
