This position serves as the Web Coordinator for the Disease Surveillance and Epidemiology Section (DSE). The position is responsible for developing and maintaining the DSE website, evaluates the website content and layout, and interacts with DSHS Web Services Office to ensure efficiency and effectiveness. The position must evaluate and ensure upkeep of the DSE website. Conducts web-related activities and provides expertise on use of the web. This position interacts routinely with DSE staff of all levels and across multiple units (Emerging and Acute Infectious Disease Unit, Zoonosis Control Branch, and the Healthcare Safety Unit). This position works to improve and expand the accessibility and usability of information for DSE employees and the public. Serves as a liaison between the units and the DSHS Web services team. Works under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Essential Job Functions
- Gathers requirements and plans, develops, and produces content to create functional websites for DSE. Analyzes and evaluates the efficiency and effectiveness of DSE website design and layout and provides recommendations for website enhancements and improvements.
- Uses web content management system(s) and tools to publish web content to DSE websites. Routinely reviews and ensures that the website contains accurate, up-to-date information, and is easy to navigate.
- Provides technical advice and assistance to management and staff in matters related to web management activities. Assists in the planning, scheduling, assigning, and coordination of web design projects.
- Performs other duties as assigned including actively participating and / or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency’s obligation for disaster response and / or recovery of Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation.
