Triage Medical Assistant

Key Responsibilities Duties:

• Assess and prioritize patient phone calls, determining the urgency of care needed.
• Provide guidance based on established medical protocols and escalate cases as necessary.
• Schedule appointments and coordinate referrals based on triage assessments.
• Assist with patient care, including obtaining vitals, updating medication lists, and documentation.
• Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR) and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Work closely with providers and clinical staff to facilitate smooth patient care.
• Take vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, etc.)
• Prepare patients for exams and procedures
• Educate patients on dietary restrictions, medications, and disease management
• Sterilize instruments and maintain exam rooms

Job Requirements:

• Must have a CMA or RMA current certification
• Must have at least 5 years of experience as a Medical Assistant.
• Previous experience in a triage role or primary care setting is a plus.
• Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and critical-thinking skills.
• Previous EMR/EHR experience with NextGen is a plus.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and clinical protocols.
• Hours: Monday – Thursday 8:00-5:00 pm, Friday 8:00-3:00 pm (must be flexible)
• Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred but not required.
