What are the responsibilities and job description for the Triage Medical Assistant position at Texas Health Care PLCC?
Key Responsibilities Duties:
- Assess and prioritize patient phone calls, determining the urgency of care needed.
- Provide guidance based on established medical protocols and escalate cases as necessary.
- Schedule appointments and coordinate referrals based on triage assessments.
- Assist with patient care, including obtaining vitals, updating medication lists, and documentation.
- Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR) and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Work closely with providers and clinical staff to facilitate smooth patient care.
- Take vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, etc.)
- Prepare patients for exams and procedures
- Educate patients on dietary restrictions, medications, and disease management
- Sterilize instruments and maintain exam rooms
Job Requirements:
- Must have a CMA or RMA current certification
- Must have at least 5 years of experience as a Medical Assistant.
- Previous experience in a triage role or primary care setting is a plus.
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and critical-thinking skills.
- Previous EMR/EHR experience with NextGen is a plus.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and clinical protocols.
- Hours: Monday Thursday 8:00-5:00 pm, Friday 8:00-3:00 pm (must be flexible)
- Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred but not required.
