Criminal Defense Associate Attorney – Full-Time

A well-established law firm in Austin, Texas, is seeking a skilled and motivated attorney to join its growing Criminal Defense practice. This position offers the opportunity to be part of a dedicated legal team that values advocacy, integrity, and client-focused representation.

We are looking for an attorney who is passionate about defending individuals facing criminal charges and who thrives in a fast-paced litigation environment. The ideal candidate is bilingual in English and Spanish, has courtroom experience, and is ready to take ownership of their caseload while working collaboratively with a team of professionals.

Responsibilities :

Represent clients in criminal defense matters across Central Texas.

Handle cases at various stages, including pre-trial hearings, negotiations, and trial proceedings.

Advocate effectively for clients in county courts, detention facilities, and through negotiations with prosecutors.

Conduct legal research, draft motions, and develop case strategies.

Provide clear communication and guidance to clients throughout their cases.

Travel as needed to jails and detention centers within the region.

Qualifications :

Licensed to practice law in Texas (JD & active State Bar membership required).

At least 1-2 years of experience in criminal law (defense or prosecution).

A valid driver’s license, as travel within Central Texas is required.

Prior experience in Travis, Hays, and Williamson County courts is highly preferred.

Strong courtroom advocacy skills, with prior litigation experience being a plus.

Ability to manage a docket independently in a high-volume practice.

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with diverse backgrounds.

Fluency in both English and Spanish is required.
