Field Meter Technician

Texas Meter & Device is hiring for a couple of full time field meter technicians in the greater Columbia, MO area and surrounding areas.

We provide training for these positions! You must have a mechanical aptitude to succeed!

You must be able to pass a background check and pre-employment drug screening, including cannabis/marijuana. Due to the nature of work, positive results of any kind are unacceptable regardless of medical card status.

Under the general direction of the Project Manager or Field Supervisor, the Field Meter Technician will be exchanging residential class electric meters and exchanging or installing new gas meter modules. Pay is based on production once training is complete. Technicians can make $25-30/hour or more depending on production levels. There is no cap on production pay!

*** TMD WILL TRAIN YOU SO THAT YOU HAVE ALL THE SKILLS TO SUCCEED AND MAKE THE HIGHER END WAGES *** Currently technicians on the project are making between $23 - $42.00/hour based on piece rate wages.

Technicians must report at the beginning and end of each day to our location in Columbia. Employees must reside within commuting distance to Columbia as there is no per diem nor relocation allowance associated with this position.

Responsibilities include:

• Will exchange residential class electric meters
• Retrofitting residential and commercial class gas modules
• Use a work order management system to capture site data
• Maintain accurate records of work completed
• Oversee the materials, equipment, vehicle and tools
• Maintains and operates a company vehicle following all safety requirements and safe driving habits
• Will report to the TMD location in Columbia, MO location at the beginning and ending of each shift.
• Keep track of new and used inventory
• Recording of addresses, GPS, and meter information
• Verification of proper installation/transmission of new meter data by utilizing tablet PC, handheld equipment or smartphone
• Manages daily client communications, data and reporting
• Coordinates scheduling and meets quality / quantity requirements
• Provides for excellence in internal and external customer service by creating a positive experience for customers, end users and communities through professional and courteous behavior and producing high quality results
• Other duties and tasks as assigned or necessary

Requirements:

• Mechanical aptitude is necessary
• Must reside in the local area
• Ability to use hand held device and other equipment as required for the position
• Ability to work with minimal supervision
• Ability to stand on feet, bend or stoop for a prolonged period of time. The work is performed outdoors and through inclement weather as necessary
• Ability to carry out duties in a safe and efficient manner
• Ability to safely operate a company vehicle
• Stable Multi-year Work History
• Attention to Detail
• DEPENDABILITY
• Previous electrical experience preferred but not required
• Good Communication Skills (speaking, reading and writing)
• Must have a valid driver's license and good driving record
• Must be a minimum of 21 years of age and have a minimum of 3 years of driving experience due to insurance requirements - (this is a bona fide occupational qualification for this position)
• Must have work boots
• Must have own personal Smart phone
• Additional Requirements: Background check clearance including drug screening and I-9 documentation as required by law

Shift and Pay Info:

After successful completion of training at $20/hr, technicians can earn between $25 -$30/hour or more based on piece rate!

Monday – Friday, with Saturday work available at times, if necessary

Work hours are usually an 8 hour shift, generally between the hours of 7am – 5pm (usually shift is 7am - 3:30 pm with a 30 minute lunch but this can vary based on project needs)

There is a possibility of an end of project bonus for employees that join our team and maintain employment and performance through the end of the project.
