The Texas Municipal League Intergovernmental Risk Pool, a public entity risk pool providing property, liability, and workers' compensation coverages to more than 2,800 local governments in Texas, is seeking a Workers' Compensation Claims Assistant working out of our main office located in Austin, Texas.
Functional Overview
Processes new claims; verifies claim information.
Enters information into a computerized database.
Submits written requests for medical and employment information.
Answers telephone and greet visitors; provides information and assistance.
Sorts and distributes mail.
Coordinates filing for assigned Specialists; routes documents to Specialists for review; maintains case files.
Prepares inactive files for storage.
Maintains office equipment; coordinates maintenance as needed.
Maintains office supply inventory; reorders as needed.
Makes copies and sends and receives faxes.
Performs related duties.
Knowledge/Experience Required
Knowledge of modern office principles and practices.
Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
Skill in the provision of customer services.
Skill in decision-making and problem-solving.
Skill in oral and written communication.
Education
The successful candidate will have experience commonly associated with the completion of a high school degree or equivalent. Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
