Position: Program Specialist [1238] COPSD
Program: Amarillo, Texas – Co-Occurring Psychiatric and Substance Use Disorders (COPSD)
Salary: $48,880.00 - $52,020.80 Annually
Shift available: Full-time
Essential duties and responsibilities:
- Staff will maintain ethical and professional communications at all times using respectful Trauma-Informed Care language
- The Program Specialist will serve as the team lead for a team of providers dedicated to working with people who are involved in the justice system
- These individuals will be diagnosed with co-occurring psychiatric and substance use disorders (COPSD) or a serious mental illness (SMI)
- The people served in the justice involved programs will be enrolled in the SB 292 grant
- The Program Specialist will provide direct supervision for all the providers within this program
- The Program Specialist will be responsible for developing processes for coordinating recovery plans and receiving services within jails in compliance with grant requirements
- This position will train providers to offer groups, care coordination, case management, crisis intervention, and all other treatment practices consistent with best practices, agency standards and grant requirements
- The model of care provided will be in alignment with the principals of a Certified Community Behavioral Health Center program
- Treatment efforts will concentrate on building natural supports from the least restrictive environment
- The Program Specialist will be responsible for attending meetings associated with the grants, coordinating care with community stakeholders, developing policies and procedures in the programs and data submission
- This position will actively support the development and improvement of agency procedures
- Coverage for provision of treatment will be required in addition to program administrative responsibilities
- Adheres to TPC Business Code of Conduct and reports concerns if ethical and/or business standards defined in the code are compromised
Required qualifications to be successful in the job:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university with a major in psychology, sociology, social work, counseling, or other related human services field for QMHP credentialing
- Three (3) years of experience in behavioral health case management
- Graduate work in a related field may be substituted for up to one (1) year of experience
- Flexible work schedule will be required based on the needs within the program
- Must have a valid Texas driver’s license and be insurable under agency vehicle policy
- Must be 18 years of age or older
Preferred qualifications to be successful in the job:
- Master’s Degree from an accredited university in a mental health field.
- Have an LPC or LCSW license in the State of Texas.
- Bilingual
- Qualify as an LPHA in good standing in the State of Texas
- Previous experience in mental health crisis de-escalation and intervention
- Experience working collaboratively with law enforcement and criminal justice systems
- Understanding of person-centered and trauma-informed care principles
- Ability to build rapport quickly and effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills
