Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Research and Development Technician with specialized knowledge of internal combustion engines. The ideal candidate will play a key role in supporting the design, testing, and optimization of cutting-edge racing engines used in high-performance automotive applications. This role requires hands-on expertise, problem-solving skills, and a passion for motorsports technology.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the design, development, and testing of high performance and racing engines, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and compliance with racing regulations.
- Conduct engine performance analysis, including dynamometer testing, data collection, and performance tuning.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to engine systems, components, and integration.
- Perform machine work, assembly, and disassembly of engine components and sub assemblies.
- Support the creation of prototypes and conduct initial testing to validate new engine technologies and performance enhancements.
- Conduct detailed failure analysis and contribute to continuous improvement efforts for engine related components and systems.
- Maintain accurate records of all testing, modifications, and results.
- Work with the fabrication and machining teams to ensure precision manufacturing of engine components.
- Assist in the development and implementation of testing procedures, engine calibration, and performance validation.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards during testing and engine operations.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree or equivalent technical certification in Automotive Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of hands-on experience with race engines, including assembly, tuning, and performance testing.
- In-depth understanding of engine systems, including combustion, fuel, ignition, cooling, and exhaust.
- Experience with dynamometer testing, engine calibration, and data acquisition systems.
- Proficiency in the use of tools and equipment commonly used in engine testing, repair, and assembly.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical manuals.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- A strong passion for motorsports and a commitment to advancing engine performance in competitive racing.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with advanced engine simulation software or performance tuning software (e.g., EFI systems).
- Previous work with professional motorsports teams or racing organizations.
- Welding, fabrication, or machining experience for custom engine part development.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and maneuver heavy engine components (up to 50 lbs).
- Ability to work in a high-performance racing environment with extended hours and occasional travel.
