Required Qualifications: Applicants must specifically address how they meet these required qualifications to meet the requirements of the position.
- Demonstrated experience working with concrete construction materials, processing, and testing equipment
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with faculty and students
- Proficient using Microsoft Office Word and Excel
- High school graduate or equivalency
- Ability to repetitively lift at least 50lbs on a routine basis
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to perform basic math and statistical operations
- Ability to perform various types of welding processes such as Stick and Mig
- Ability to read and understand schematics, block diagrams, and wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, flowcharts, and service manuals
- Knowledge of wood working practices and use of common wood working equipment
- Prior experience using a variety of basic and advanced tools, including CNC and Material Testing equipment.
- Proficient using common CAD software packages such as SolidWorks and Autodesk
- Comfortable working in a teaching environment
- Familiar with using university software and forms with Texas State or similar software and forms
- Experience working in and maintaining university laboratories, machine shops, metal fabrication, wood shops, and concrete processing and testing equipment.
- Capable of working in hot, dusty, noisy, and hazardous environments.

Job Description
The Ingram School of Engineering is currently hiring a Laboratory Services Technician to support its growing academic and research programs, particularly in Civil Engineering. Among other duties, a Laboratory Service Technician ensures that lab spaces are orderly, equipment functions properly, is stored between uses, and there is an adequate inventory of parts and consumable supplies. In cooperation with faculty, these individuals will also be responsible for specifying, purchasing, installing, calibrating, and maintaining a range of laboratory equipment.
Job Duties
- Assist with the preparation and continued revision of standard laboratory operating procedures
- Assist with the preparation, safe use, and clean-up of the laboratory associated with classroom and research activities
- Repair and maintain equipment as needed
- Order, receive, process, inventory, store, and maintain incoming equipment, supplies, and raw materials.
- Maintain an electronic inventory of all purchases, calibrations, repairs, and licenses for academic equipment.
- Specify, fabricate or purchase, specialized equipment, fixtures, or tools
- Work with other technicians to coordinate use of laboratory facilities
- Other duties as assigned
