What you will be doing as a Machine Operator - Hone:
In this role, you can expect to perform routine honing and internal finishing processes to produce precision surfaces on the interior of cylinder parts by using grinding stones mounted on a mandrel. Your responsibilities may include (but are not limited to):
- Operate Honing Machines: Setup and operate horizontal and automatic honing machines to refine surfaces and internal finishes using stones mounted on a mandrel (spindle)
- Mandrel and Stone Setup: Configure the correct mandrel stone holders, and stones for optimal performance and desired surface finish
- Precision Measurement: Utilize hand tools and precision measuring devices to verify hole sizes and ensure accuracy
- Quality Assurance: Perform functions to maintain high standards of workmanship and quality control
- A high school diploma, an equivalent certificate, or a bronze level WorkKeys certification is required
- Ability to work while hands and clothing is exposed to coolant regularly
- Desire to learn techniques and processes from experienced operators
