Responsibilities
- To ensure the quality of the Technical Product Documentation by ensuring that all drawings are produced in accordance with both published national/international standards, and company design standards in a timely fashion in line with program release schedule.
- Contribute to the identification of any identified technical shortcomings and recommend/propose solutions
- Check and approve engineering drawings from the points of view of; technical completeness, clarity, conformance with standards, dimensional accuracy and the correct specification of materials and processes
- Check and approve tolerance stack analyses for technical completeness and correctness
- Assist Program Engineers with promoting and developing a generally higher level of engineering drawing, GD&T and tolerance stack analysis skills across the team through one-to-one mentoring and group training activities where required
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience in a design/manufacturing/inspection environment which required the use and interpretation of engineering drawings
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to manage one’s own workload and time
- Experience of:
- Engineering drawing authoring or checking within a mechanical design environment
- Working within an environment of continuous and rapid technical change
- A thorough technical understanding of mechanical engineering drawing principles, including (but not limited to):
- Fundamentals such as projection angles, line types, view types, dimensioning methods, title block and change block information
- Different drawing types and their usages.
- Theory and application of GD&T
- A thorough technical understanding of relevant industry-standard TPD standards
- Working understanding of ASME Y14.5-2009 with a focus on understanding the fundamental differences that exist between Y14.5 & ISO GPS with the ability to spot subtle ASME vs ISO nuances in engineering drawings
- Sound documentation capabilities and thus experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint for example
