GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:
The Building Engineer position encompasses a wide range of duties for commercial property(s). The Associate is responsible for the care of assets managed by the firm. ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS/CORE TASKS:
- Assists with preventative maintenance tasks and work order management for the assigned properties
- Completes timely, accurate production of all required paperwork and reporting
- Responds to tenant requests regarding lighting, plumbing and other building requests
- Schedules and performs general building, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC maintenance, service, troubleshooting and repair
- Works closely with contractors, vendors, and the Property Management teams
- Assists with construction projects, as necessary
- May perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- High school education or GED required
- EPA Universal refrigerant certification is a plus or the ability to become certified
- Valid driver's license
- Meets company MV operator criteria
LENGTH/KIND OF EXPERIENCE:
- 3 years hands-on experience in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of building mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems preferred.

- Ability to read, understand, and utilize wiring diagrams, schematics, drawings, and blueprints

- Knowledge of Life Safety Systems and planning
- Ability to use good judgment and make sound decisions
- Ability to work with little or no supervision in a team environment
- Excellent interpersonal relationship skills
- Outstanding written/oral communication skills
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
- Good mechanical skills
- Perform minor HVAC, electrical, and plumbing repairs
- Ability to utilize Work Order and BAS/EMS systems
WORK Environment
- Travel Requirements related to essential functions (frequency, distance, purpose).
- Must be able to work on-call when needed. Must be able to drive to different site locations
- Ability to safely use hand-held power tools used in the repair and maintenance of building components and systems
- Work inside and outside buildings and in various conditions
- Physical effort required in performing daily duties, e.g. heavy lifting (up to 50lbs), bending, climbing, etc.
- Ability and willingness to climb ladders and scaffolds
