Summary: Contribute to the success of Thanksgiving Point by driving a culture of safety and risk management to promote a safe environment for guests, owners, vendors, local community, and team members. Directly oversee and provide excellent leadership to the Safety and Security departments.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead a diverse team of safety and security focused team members by hiring, training, scheduling, managing, appraising performance, and providing coaching.
- Build relationships of trust and respect with all departments, guests, and external partners
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Work closely with external partners to ensure compliance with fire codes, maintain permits, complete annual inspections, law enforcement, emergency procedures and training, OSHA, UOSH, and other State and local entities.
- Work closely with agencies on annual facility inspections and follow-up.
- Lighting, Pathways, Railings, Interiors, etc.
- Ensure all safety concerns are addressed with professionalism and in a timely manner.
- Coordinate with the Facilities department to ensure necessary repairs for safety.
- Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with the team and other departments.
- Coordinate with operational departments to ensure proper safety training is tracked and occurring with the appropriate frequency and to help establish understanding and compliance with all OSHA, UOSH, Work Force Services, DEP, EPA standards.
- Attend industry specific conferences to ensure policies and practices are within industry standards and up to date.
- Oversee the creation, upkeep, and inventory of all keys, locks, and access control systems.
- Responsible for the annual inspection of hoods, fire suppression systems, extinguishers and work with local Fire Marshall on maintaining all fire related systems.
- Create and maintain best practices and safety protocols and insure they understood and adhered to.
- Ensure registrations, insurance, licensing, certifications etc. are in place for all aspects of property safety and security.
- Oversee Resort's accident investigation program and maintain a central investigation file.
- Regularly report to department heads Workers Compensation injury trends.
- Report appropriate incidents and findings of investigations to Human Resources and other appropriate departments.
- Oversee the creation and execution of Thanksgiving Point’s Health & Safety program and Emergency Response program.
- Manage the department budget and inventory needs
- Effectively manage surveillance system, including location, functionality, user set up, review and storage.
- Inspect, evaluate and ensure compliance of property security and safety requirements and procedures to protect Thanksgiving Point’s property, team members and guests against theft, crime and threats.
- Develop loss prevention procedures, training, and property policy on handling theft.
- Oversee investigations of guest and employee incidents which pose a threat of litigation against the property.
- Provide threat assessment, case management and recommendations to prevent or reduce the threat of or potential of violence to team members, company owners, guests, and any entity having business or association with Thanksgiving Point.
- Use discernment and good judgment to aid in investigations.
- Protect Thanksgiving Point assets.
- Indirectly supervise approximately 50 seasonal non-supervisory employees.
- Oversee the creation of planning, parking and support for Thanksgiving Point signature events and others events as needed.
- Keep all information considered confidential or which may be considered confidential (medical records, separations, probations, disciplinary actions, investigations, wages, etc.) from becoming rumor, hearsay, or common knowledge by withholding such information from the media, public, and any employee that does not need the information to fulfill the essential duties of the job.
- Ensure Safety representatives respond in a courteous and prompt manner to all guest related incidents, questions, complaints and/or requests to ensure a high level of guest satisfaction.
- Monitor how employees perform their jobs safely and contribute to a safe work environment.
- Establish a department culture of positivity
