Wire EDM Programmer/Operator

Summary

Meet the customer’s needs by setting up and operating a wire EDM machine according to the specifications detailed in the process books. This will be done while achieving quality, cost, and delivery objectives for assigned projects. In addition, this individual will support incorporating current and future products into CNC capability.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe working environment per OSHA standards throughout the plant and assist in implementing any required updated safety regulations.
• Be able to learn new equipment quickly based on a foundational understanding of wire EDM.
• Responsible for performing, setting up, and identifying appropriate fixtures.
• Identify the need for and the correct size of wire electrodes and wire spool changes when needed. Perform, set up, and accurately identify appropriate fixtures to reflect the time per job activity.
• Provide team support and communication to all co-workers.
• Notifies EDM Operations Manager of potential problems which could affect customer deliveries.
• Maintain machines and check ID water gauges.
• Collaborate with quality control when required.
• Inform management of any maintenance issues or problems related to a job.

Qualifications

• Good understanding of drafting and geometric dimensional tolerancing. (GD&T)
• Good mechanical aptitude.
• A team mentality approach for all job duties
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
• Articulate, well-organized, and self-motivated.
• Organization skills, including the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
• Ability to solve complex problems independently as well as with a team.

Education and/or Work Experience

• Previous Wire EDM machining experience preferred
• Worked with engineering for part production.
• Good understanding of drafting and geometric dimensional tolerancing (GD&T)

Technical Skills/Physical Requirements

• Experience interpreting sketches, blueprints, or models in a manufacturing environment
• Ability to modify programming on EDM machines
• Ability to inspect and verify conformance of machines to satisfy specifications
• Relevant experience operating industrial mechanical equipment
• Lifting and transport of materials (20 – 40 lbs.)
• Ability to follow procedures
• Ability to multi-task and run multiple machines
• Have good communication skills & the ability to work well with others
