Job Description
Purpose:
The role of a Mentor Teacher of the Acorn School is one of the most important roles. Mentor Teachers will directly support Toddler teaching staff. They will ensure teachers have the tools they need to provide high quality education to their students.
Mentor Teachers will supervise and support the implementation of developmentally appropriate curriculum, Teacher Strategies Gold, ERS Tools, Colorado State Licensing, Boulder County Health and Colorado Shines Requirements.
General Responsibilities:
- Classroom support. Mentor teachers will work in classrooms full time.
- Ensure teachers are meeting expectations. Curriculum, TS Gold, and parent-teacher conference oversight.
- Support weekly lesson planning.
- Refer to curriculum overviews for Fall, Winter, Spring to ensure teams are on track with what they need to be learning.
- TS Gold oversight.
- Support in collecting documentation to ensure it is being completed.
- Ensure Documentation is high quality.
- Parent-Teacher conference.
- Review family conference forms prior to teachers meeting with families.
- Ensure teachers can access Objective and Development Reports for each child.
- Support teachers with any conferences they are feeling concerned about.
- Support new teachers in conducting conferences.
- Check during planning.
- Provide input and feedback to the Education Director surrounding performance.
- Provide feedback to the Education Director in regards to any working interviews conducted.
- Ensure classrooms meet licensing and health department regulations.
- Do a Licensing/ Health Department walk through every other month. Discuss violations with teachers at the next planning session.
- Provide in classroom training for new employees.

Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age and meet the requirements of Early Childhood Teacher Qualification as specified by the Colorado Department of Early Childhood.
- Have the desire to serve children and parents, and to work supportively with a group of excellent teachers who are constantly learning from each other and progressing in their field.
- Possess strong interpersonal, relationship building, leadership skills, organizational skills, and the ability to multitask.
- Demonstrate an interest in continuing to develop skills professionally.
- Have experience working as an ECT teacher.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
- Sitting, squatting, kneeling, reaching overhead, reaching forward, crawling, climbing, using repetitive movements, pushing and pulling up to 30% of the time.
- Working in cramped spaces; being exposed to allergens or infection up to 30% of the time.
- Walking, standing, bending and twisting, frequent wrist motion up to 60% of the time.
- Exposure to computer monitors and fluorescent lights up to 60% of the time.
- Working both indoors and outdoors.
- Consistent need for vision, hearing, speech and cognitive abilities.
- Ability to lift up to 70 pounds.
- Ability to carry 25-50 pounds.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour
