Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide essential support to patients in various settings, including hospitals, clinics, and outpatient facilities. This role is crucial in ensuring the comfort and well-being of patients, particularly in environments such as Level II Trauma Centers and teaching hospitals. The Personal Care Assistant will work closely with healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality care to individuals across different age groups, including geriatrics.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Provide support for mobility and transportation within the facility.
- Monitor and document patient vital signs and report any changes to nursing staff.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients by adhering to infection control protocols.
- Engage with patients to promote mental and emotional well-being through companionship and conversation.
- Support medical staff during procedures in various settings including inpatient, outpatient, OR, and emergency medicine environments.
- Assist in the implementation of care plans developed by healthcare professionals.
- Participate in training sessions to enhance skills related to hospital medicine, medical-surgical care, and geriatrics.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Personal Care Assistant or similar role is preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of hospital medicine practices and familiarity with Level II Trauma Centers is a plus.
- Experience in outpatient settings or clinics is advantageous.
- Understanding of emergency medicine protocols is beneficial.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
