The Civil Systems Group (CSG) is looking for a Senior Project Engineer- Engineering Program Management and Systems Engineering. We are seeking qualified individuals with experience supporting program and activities of a diverse customer set at National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and/or other Government customers. Functions include providing project management subject matter expertise to NASA's Space Communications and Navigation program, or SCaN, which serves as the program office for all of NASA’s space communications activities, presently enabling the success of more than 100 NASA and non-NASA missions. SCaN manages and directs the ground-based facilities and services provided by the Deep Space Network (DSN) and the Near Space Network (NSN), including the NSN's Tracking and Data Relay Satellites (TDRS). This position is in the Human Exploration and Space Flight (HESF) Division and requires excellent customer service skills in building relationships with internal and external clients and stakeholders. The incumbent must have the ability to work professionally with all levels of management, particularly senior customer officials.
Work Model
This is a full-time position based at NASA Glenn in Cleveland, OH, offering a hybrid work model that combines 3-4 regular onsite workdays and remote flexibility as the business needs allow.
What You’ll Be Doing
The incumbent is responsible for supporting multiple program support activities which may include advocacy, planning, estimating, development, and execution of approved programmatic content material, focusing on bridging technical needs of the customer organizations with the capabilities of the SCaN Program.
The responsibilities include directly performing as a senior technical authority of the customer’s staff, providing day-to-day programmatic monitoring, assessment, and oversight of activities related to the SCaN Program,
Support senior Aerospace Space Communication Team members
Develop task plans and associated milestones to develop SCaN-related products
Support the Planning, Programming, Budgeting and Execution (PPBE) process within the SCaN Program, leading to balanced portfolio recommendations to NASA HQ.
Advising SCaN Program leadership of opportunities for technical engagement throughout the scientific and mission communities.
Developing programmatic products to communicate technical messages to a diverse set of stakeholders within NASA and beyond.
Apply engineering and project management acumen to develop, conduct, and document processes associated with managing the technical aspects of a program/project.
What You Need to be Successful – Senior Project Engineer- Engineering Program Management and Systems Engineering
Minimum Requirements:
A bachelor’s degree in engineering, Physics, Applied Science, or another related STEM discipline
Minimum of 10 years of industry work experience within systems engineering and/or project management
2 Years of Project Management Experience with NASA or other government projects.
Organizational and leadership experience in space communication projects and programs
Prior experience supporting a NASA or other government Program Office
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers
Skilled in lifecycle management, software test and integration, image processing, instructional design and delivery, and proposal writing
Proven experience with Flight Hardware Verification and Validation
Excellent written and oral communication skills – ability to organize complex materials and concepts in clear and logical manner, and communicate to all levels of leadership
Willing to travel occasionally to work location or customer site/domestically approx. 5% (about 15 days in a working year)
This position may require the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
