Alfred Mental & Addiction Health (AMAH) is responsible for the operation of services, which focus on people with a severe mental illness residing in the Inner South Eastern area of Melbourne.
The single most important goal of Alfred Mental & Addiction Health is to create an environment that facilitates clinical recovery, supports individual recovery efforts and strives to minimise service system barriers to the recovery process.
The Suicide Prevention team (HOPE) provide 3 months’ intensive outreach psycho-social support and brief interventions to individuals discharged from hospital post a suicide attempt or who have presented with serious suicidal ideation.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a member of the Hope team, you will use your skills and lived experience of your own suicidal crisis or suicide attempt, to support consumer engagement alongside members of the multidisciplinary team by enhancing the consumer’s own sense of agency and encouraging their sense of hope and personal value.

About You
- Have obtained or are willing to work to obtain within 12 months - Certificate IV in Peer Work or Certificate IV in Mental Health OR Intentional Peer Support (IPS) 5 day and/or advanced training.
- Must have at least 12 months experience working as a peer worker with consumers in suicidal crisis, following a suicide attempt or with complex needs.
- Have a lived experience of recovery from suicidal crisis and have been successfully navigating life's stressors for 12-24 months.
- Australian working rights and full Covid-19 vaccination
- Current Victorian Driver's License
- Be willing to undergo a Background Check
