Position Summary
ARC is seeking a full-time non-exempt Life Coach. The Life Coach (LC) is responsible for assisting all members in the downtown Sacramento office in achieving an optimal quality of life. The LC will be part of the member services team and will provide support and life skills training for formerly incarcerated members. LCs are responsible for assessing needs and making referrals where appropriate. This is a challenging position that requires a self-motivated multitasker with a strong background in case management and/or residential services provision. A background in criminal justice is an asset, along with passion and commitment to social justice reform.
Essential Job Functions
- In collaboration with the Sacramento Therapist and the member services team, work to create a comprehensive plan for each member, including, but not limited to: employment, education, recreation, physical/mental health, spiritual growth, life skills, and/or any other activities to enhance the well-being of the member.
- Provide case management services to members to ensure that all goals/needs are being met and that documentation is consistently completed in the Life Coach Binder, sign-in sheets, and our ARC database.
- Provide life coaching and mentoring to members through individual in-person sessions and/or phone calls.
- Support the Sacramento Therapist in managing, outreaching, and facilitating the group for the women's program, including running the women's group. Must be familiar with issues and policies impacting incarcerated and formerly incarcerated women.
- In collaboration with other staff, facilitate the weekly orientation for new members and communicate expectations for the orientation phase.
- Assist members in connecting to supportive services, either provided directly by ARC or by partner organizations, if beyond the scope of ARC programs.
- Document all group activities in the database by the end of the next business day.
- Attend ARC staff meetings, case conferences, organizational gatherings, retreats, and conferences as requested.
- In collaboration with ARC staff, organize ARC Sacramento events and produce ARC Sacramento's monthly calendar, which lists upcoming groups and activities.
- In collaboration with direct service staff, conduct outreach (via phone calls, texts, and/or Facebook) to members regarding upcoming ARC-related events, activities, groups, opportunities, etc.
- Coordinate care and interventions with the Sacramento Therapist and the member services team when members are in need of additional support.
- Coordinate referrals to the on-site mental health therapist.
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 2 years of experience working as a Counselor, Case Manager, and/or group facilitator. Experience with case file maintenance, group documentation, and contract compliance is essential.
- High School Diploma is required; an Associate's or Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
- A preferred minimum of 2 years of experience working with the re-entry/formerly incarcerated community. Experience in trauma-informed programming and/or conflict resolution is ideal. The position requires collaboration with partners, extensive knowledge of community resources, with a strong emphasis on higher education, entitlements, and services. Ability to problem-solve in a restorative justice/supportive capacity is necessary.
- Highly motivated and able to multitask. Team spirit with trust in coworkers and excellent communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required. Experience with case management or treatment-focused databases is preferred. Excellent written/verbal communication skills are mandatory with the ability to work on a team.
Salary/Benefits
- Compensation: $24.04 hr – $26 hr. depending on experience.
- ARC pays up to 100% medical/dental/vision benefits for individual; 50% for dependents.
- 10 paid vacation days, 6 paid sick days.
