Job Summary
The Program Director is responsible for planning, implementing, and overseeing engaging and meaningful recreational programs for residents in the assisted living facility. This role focuses on enhancing the quality of life for residents through diverse activities that promote physical, emotional, and social well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage a comprehensive recreation program that meets the interests and needs of residents, including physical activities, arts and crafts, social events, and educational workshops.
- Assess residents’ needs and preferences to create tailored programs that encourage participation and foster a sense of community.
- Collaborate with staff, families, and external resources to enhance program offerings and ensure a variety of engaging activities.
- Organize and oversee special events, outings, and seasonal celebrations that promote resident interaction and enjoyment.
- Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, making adjustments as needed to improve participation and resident satisfaction.
- Recruit, train, and supervise recreation staff and volunteers, ensuring they provide high-quality programming and support to residents.
- Maintain accurate records of program participation, budgets, and supplies, and report on program outcomes to management.
- Promote a positive and inclusive environment where residents feel encouraged to participate and express their preferences.
- Stay informed about best practices in recreational therapy and aging services, integrating new ideas and approaches into programming.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Therapy, Recreation Management, Gerontology, or a related field preferred.
- Proven experience in program development and implementation, preferably in a senior living or healthcare setting.
- Strong knowledge of the physical, emotional, and social needs of older adults.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a passion for enhancing the lives of seniors.
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff, residents, families, and community partners.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred; must be willing to obtain if not currently certified.
